The Sound of the Fall Part 1 (08/05/06 & 10/11/08)
When I walk into the store
And it’s so quiet and the shelves are all so full
I just want to pull it down
Down to the ground
And listen to the sound of the fall
I’m so angry with myself
All the foolish things I’ve done year after year
That’s me up there on the shelf
I’m coming down as I listen to the sound of the fall
And every day goes by so fast
I never know if it’s my last
I’m left outside as the world goes rushing past
I’m down on the ground
And I’m listening to the sound of the fall
I do nothing day to day
And I know that when I go
All the stuff I’ve bought won’t save me from my fate
I’ll be lying on the ground
Listening to the sound of the fall
Now the party is in full swing but I’m listening
I’m listening to the sound of the fall
Now the sound system has failed
And it’s so quiet here I’ve got the future nailed
I need to open up my eyes
Get myself off of the ground
And stop listening to the sound of the fall
But I don’t think that I can change
Try as I might I know that I am quite deranged
My world gets faster everyday
I’m lying on the ground
And all I hear is the sound of the fall
Now the party is in full swing but I’m listening
I’m listening to the sound of the fall
So now I understand the game
But I still live my life exactly the same
I need to open up my eyes
Get myself off of the ground
And stop listening to the sound of the fall

The subsequent junk shop purchases of an electric guitar & fuzzbox and the acquisition of an old Beatles songbook, led him into songwriting... ... more
