A 151 minute, three movement piece, incorporating the treatment of a piece of music significant to David, along with four field recordings (made on the mornings of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th May, 2020) and found short wave radio broadcasts.
Although each movement is based on the same elements, in each, there is a different treatment of the musical element, while the mix of environment and short wave radio is also altered. Thus each movement has its own distinct sound and each is substantially different from the others.
The first movement is an understated introduction to the piece, with the full musical element included, giving an ethereal feel.
For the second movement, a long, uneventful introduction allows the environment and short wave radio to, initially, come to the fore. Much of the treated music from the first movement is removed, this following discussions with the Exec Producer regarding the overall sound of the first movement.
In the third movement, the music element from the second is further treated and added to, giving a much denser soundscape as a finale to the piece.
