about
In early 2023, TQLive approached Cloudland Blue Quartet to perform at one of their nights in Newcastle in 2024 (now confirmed as taking place on 18 January 2024).
On Easter Day 2023, David set up his equipment and recorded a fully improvised set (which downloaders will receive as part of their bundle) to experiment with ideas he might use on the night.
This exercise was repeated a week later (again this fully improvised set is being made available to downloaders).
However, this initial approach was abandoned and, over the summer, an alternative modus operandi was put together, which in the four months from August to November 2023, resulted in the suite which comprises this LP.
The nine parts form a brand new 40 minute piece, comprising intertwining elements from the stems of pieces taken from 27 different CBQ soundscape albums, issued by Crispycat Recordings, the earliest of which was released in April 2016, with the most recent recordings due for release in 2024. The suite also contains new elements along with field and short wave radio recordings.
